Stay Connected
Day 4 — Stay Connected
Scripture:
“Abide in me, and I in you… apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:4–5
Reflection:
These words are spoken in the Gospel of John 15. Jesus is talking to His disciples the night before He goes to the cross. He knows they will soon face fear and confusion.
He gives them a picture.
He says He is the vine.
They are the branches.
A branch cannot grow fruit by itself. It must stay connected to the vine. If it is cut off, it dries up.
Jesus says the same is true for us.
Discipleship is not trying harder.
It is staying connected.
When we stay close to Jesus through prayer, Scripture, and obedience, fruit grows. Love grows. Patience grows. Wisdom grows.
But Jesus makes it very clear: “Apart from me you can do nothing.”
That means real spiritual growth does not come from effort alone. It comes from relationship.
Observation:
• Jesus is the source (John 15:5).
• Fruit comes from connection, not pressure.
• Pruning happens so we can grow more (John 15:2).
• Obedience flows from love (John 15:10).
Life Application:
Are you trying to produce fruit without staying connected?
Busyness is not the same as abiding.
You can work for Jesus and still drift from Jesus.
Discipleship means staying close.
Prayer Prompt:
Lord, keep me close to You. Help me stay connected so my life bears fruit.
Action Step:
Set aside quiet time today with no phone, no noise. Simply read Scripture and talk to God.
