Obedience Shows Who Is Lord
Day 5 — Obedience Shows Who Is Lord
Scripture:
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” — Luke 6:46
Reflection:
In Gospel of Luke 6, Jesus finishes teaching the crowd. Then He tells a story about two men building houses.
One builds on rock.
One builds on sand.
The difference is not hearing. Both heard His words.
The difference is doing.
Jesus says calling Him “Lord” means nothing if we refuse to obey Him.
Discipleship is not saying the right words.
It is living the right way.
James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”
Obedience is not about earning love. We already have God’s love in Christ. Obedience shows trust. It shows that Jesus truly leads our lives.
Observation:
• Hearing without obeying is like building on sand (Luke 6:49).
• Obedience builds strength and stability.
• Lordship means surrendering control.
Life Application:
Is Jesus only Lord in your words — or also in your choices?
Where are you delaying obedience?
Discipleship grows when obedience becomes immediate.
Prayer Prompt:
Jesus, help me obey You quickly and fully.
Action Step:
If God has been prompting you to do something right, take one step toward obedience today.
