SEEN
When God Seems Far Away
Theme: God’s silence is not God’s absence. Even when we cannot see what He is doing, He sees everything.
Pause
Some seasons of faith feel close.
Others feel quiet.
You wait…
and nothing appears to change.
You look at injustice and wonder why God doesn’t intervene.
Psalm 10 gives us permission to ask the question:
“Why?”
Bring your unanswered questions with you today.
God is not threatened by them.
Prayer
Father, there are moments when I struggle to understand Your silence. Help me trust You when I cannot trace what You are doing. Remind me that You see what I cannot see, hear what others ignore, and remain present even when You feel far away. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture
Today’s Psalm invites us to bring our hardest questions to God and trust that He sees every injustice, hears every cry, and never forgets the helpless.
Psalm 10
Why Do You Hide Yourself?
Why, O Lord, do you stand far away?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor;
let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised.
3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul,
and the one greedy for gain curses[a] and renounces the Lord.
4 In the pride of his face[b] the wicked does not seek him;[c]
all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”
5 His ways prosper at all times;
your judgments are on high, out of his sight;
as for all his foes, he puffs at them.
6 He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.”
7 His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression;
under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.
8 He sits in ambush in the villages;
in hiding places he murders the innocent.
His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
9 he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket;
he lurks that he may seize the poor;
he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net.
10 The helpless are crushed, sink down,
and fall by his might.
11 He says in his heart, “God has forgotten,
he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”
12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand;
forget not the afflicted.
13 Why does the wicked renounce God
and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”?
14 But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation,
that you may take it into your hands;
to you the helpless commits himself;
you have been the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer;
call his wickedness to account till you find none.
16 The Lord is king forever and ever;
the nations perish from his land.
17 O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted;
you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear
18 to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.

Pursuing His Heart
Today’s Revelation of God’s Heart
God’s heart sees the forgotten, hears the afflicted, and defends those the world overlooks.
Carry this truth with you throughout today’s journey.
Psalm 10 is remarkably honest.
David looks at arrogance, oppression, greed, and injustice and asks why God appears distant.
That’s important.
Biblical faith does not require pretending everything makes sense.
Faith can ask hard questions.
The turning point comes when David remembers what is true even when his circumstances suggest otherwise.
God sees.
The wicked may believe God isn’t paying attention.
The suffering may wonder whether God has forgotten.
He hasn’t.
David eventually declares that God hears the desire of the afflicted.
Sometimes we confuse God’s timing with God’s attention.
Just because God has not acted yet does not mean God has not seen.
Your prayers are heard.
And God’s silence should never be interpreted as indifference.
Seeing Jesus
Jesus repeatedly noticed the people others overlooked.
The poor.
Children.
Widows.
Outcasts.
The forgotten were never invisible to Him.
And at the cross, Jesus entered the deepest human experience of suffering and apparent abandonment.
Because of Christ, we know God’s heart toward suffering humanity.
He cares.
And He comes near.
Truths to Hold Onto
Life Application
Where have you interpreted God’s silence as God’s absence?
with:
“God sees what I cannot see, and I will trust His heart while I wait.”
Walking Deeper
Isaiah 49:15–16 — God assures His people that He has not forgotten them.
1 Peter 5:7 — We can cast our anxieties upon God because He cares for us.
Prayer Prompt
Lord, when You seem far away, help me remember that You are still near. When I don’t understand Your timing, help me trust Your character. Thank You for seeing every hurt, hearing every prayer, and remembering every person who feels forgotten. Amen.
Today’s Step
Write down one unanswered question you’ve been carrying.
“God sees this.”
Simply entrust the question to Him.

How can I remind someone who feels forgotten that they are seen?
Reflect. Evolve. Lead.

Today I will notice someone others may overlook and intentionally remind them that they matter.
Carry This With You
When you cannot see God’s hand, you can still trust God’s heart.
You are heard.
You are not forgotten.
Tomorrow’s Journey
Today you discovered that God sees what others overlook.
Tomorrow we’ll confront an even harder question:
What happens when the foundations themselves seem to be crumbling?
David’s answer will remind us where our confidence ultimately rests.
Until tomorrow…keep walking with Him.
