THE AGE OF SELF-DECEPTION
DAY 12 — THE AGE OF SELF-DECEPTION
Scripture
Jeremiah 17:9
Galatians 6:3
Proverbs 14:12
Reflection
We live in an age where self-definition is celebrated more than self-examination.
Social media allows people to curate identity—how they want to be seen rather than who they truly are. But spiritual truth does not operate on perception.
“The heart is deceitful above all things…” (Jeremiah 17:9)
That means even strong emotions, confident opinions, and cultural agreement can still be wrong.
Today’s world often says: “If it feels true, it is true.”
Scripture says: “Test everything.”
Paul warns:
“If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” (Galatians 6:3)
We are capable of believing we are spiritually healthy while being distant from God.
Even modern life reinforces this deception:
Staying busy feels like being faithful
emotional highs feel like spiritual depth
Online exposure feels like spiritual growth
But God sees beyond all of it.
Application
Am I confusing activity, emotion, or visibility with true spiritual health?
Prayer
God, expose anything in me that is self-deception. Align my perception with Your truth.
