TEST EVERYTHING

DAY 10 — TEST EVERYTHING

Scripture

1 Thessalonians 5:21–22
Acts 17:11
1 John 4:1

Reflection

Faith is not blind—it is tested.

Paul gives a direct instruction:

“Test everything; hold fast what is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

That means:

  • Not everything should be accepted

  • Not every voice should be trusted

  • Not every idea aligns with truth

The Bereans were commended because:

“They received the word with eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily…” (Acts 17:11)

They didn’t reject teaching—but they didn’t accept it blindly either.

They tested it against God’s Word.

John gives a similar warning:

“Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits…” (1 John 4:1)

Discernment is not skepticism—it is spiritual responsibility.

We are called to:

  • evaluate

  • examine

  • and hold firmly to the truth

In a world full of voices, the question is not:

  • What sounds good?

But:

What is true according to Scripture?

Challenge

Do I test what I hear against Scripture—or accept it based on how it feels?

Prayer

Lord, help me to discern truth from error. Give me a hunger for Your Word and the discipline to test everything by it. Keep me grounded in what is true.
