WISDOM OVER OPINION
DAY 9 — WISDOM OVER OPINION
Scripture
James 1:5
Proverbs 3:5–7
Ecclesiastes 7:12
Reflection
We live in a world full of opinions.
Everyone has one.
Few are grounded in truth.
Scripture does not call us to be opinionated—it calls us to be wise.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God…” (James 1:5)
Wisdom is different from knowledge.
Knowledge gathers information
Wisdom applies truth rightly
Proverbs warns:
“Lean not on your own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5)
Our natural thinking is limited.
It is shaped by:
experience
bias
emotion
Without God, even our best reasoning can lead us in the wrong direction.
Wisdom requires:
humility to ask
patience to wait
discipline to follow
Ecclesiastes says:
“Wisdom preserves those who have it.” (Ecclesiastes 7:12)
In a confused world, wisdom is not optional—it is essential.
Challenge
Am I relying on my own understanding—or intentionally seeking God’s wisdom?
Prayer
God, give me wisdom. Help me to see clearly, think rightly, and act in alignment with Your truth. Keep me from relying on my own understanding.
