SPEAKING TRUTH IN LOVE

DAY 8 — SPEAKING TRUTH IN LOVE

Scripture

Ephesians 4:15
Colossians 4:6
Proverbs 27:6

Reflection

Truth and love are not opposites—they are meant to work together.

Paul writes:

“Speaking the truth in love…” (Ephesians 4:15)

Without truth, love becomes:

  • shallow

  • permissive

  • directionless

Without love, truth becomes:

  • harsh

  • damaging

  • self-righteous

God never calls us to choose between the two.

Truth without love pushes people away.
Love without truth leaves people unchanged.

Proverbs says:

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend…” (Proverbs 27:6)

That means real love is willing to:

  • be honest

  • confront when necessary

  • speak what is right, not just what is easy

But how we speak matters.

“Let your speech always be gracious…” (Colossians 4:6)

The goal of truth is not to win an argument.
It is to point people toward life.

And that includes how we speak to ourselves.

Are we:

  • Justifying what is wrong?

  • Or honestly confronting it with grace and truth?

Challenge

Do I use truth to build others up—or to prove myself right?

Prayer

Lord, teach me to speak truth with love. Guard my words from pride or harshness. Let everything I say reflect both Your truth and Your grace.
