Words That Build Up
Day 23 — Words That Build Up
Scripture:
“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up… that it may give grace to those who hear.” — Ephesians 4:29
Reflection:
In Epistle to the Ephesians 4, Paul teaches believers how to live differently. After explaining unity and spiritual growth, he becomes very practical.
He talks about words.
Discipleship shows up in speech.
Words can tear down.
Words can heal.
Words can give grace.
Jesus said in Matthew 12:36 that we will give account for careless words. That means words matter deeply to God.
Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
If Christ is being formed in us, our speech changes. Complaining becomes gratitude. Gossip becomes encouragement. Harshness becomes gentleness.
Disciples speak in ways that strengthen others.
Observation:
• Our words should build up.
• Speech can give grace.
• Mature faith affects daily conversation.
Life Application:
Do your words strengthen people — or weaken them?
Are you known for encouragement?
Discipleship grows when grace fills our speech.
Prayer Prompt:
Lord, guard my mouth. Let my words reflect Your heart.
Action Step:
Speak intentional encouragement to three people today.
