Salt and Light

Day 21 — Salt and Light

Scripture:

“You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:13–14

Reflection:

These words come from the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew 5.

Salt preserves and adds flavor.

Light pushes back darkness.

Jesus says, “You are.”

Not “try to be.”

But “you are.”

Discipleship is not hidden.

When Christ changes us, our presence changes environments.

Light does not argue with darkness. It shines.

Salt does not shout. It influences quietly.

In everyday places — schools, homes, workplaces — disciples live differently.

And Jesus says when people see good works, they glorify the Father (Matthew 5:16).

Observation:

• Identity comes before action.

• Influence happens naturally when light shines.

• The goal is God’s glory.

Life Application:

Are you hiding your faith?

Does your presence bring peace, wisdom, and kindness into rooms?

Discipleship impacts everyday life.

Prayer Prompt:

Father, let my life shine in a way that points others to You.

Action Step:

Do one visible act of goodness today that reflects Christ.
