A PEOPLE WHO LOOK UP
THE CHRISTMAS REVELATION
An Invitation to Share the Light
A December 20 – January 1 Devotional Journey: Based on my book The Twenty-Five Days of Christmas
DECEMBER 30:
A PEOPLE WHO LOOK UP
Scripture Reading:
Matthew 2:1–2 (KJV)
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Devotional:
As the year nears its end, Scripture turns our attention upward.
The wise men were not guided by convenience or clarity—they were guided by faith and vision. They looked up, noticed what others ignored, and followed the light God placed before them.
Looking up requires intention. It means lifting our eyes above fear, uncertainty, and distraction.
While others were consumed by power, politics, and routine, the wise men were watching the heavens. They were expectant. They believed God was still speaking—and they were willing to move when He did.
Their journey reminds us that worship often begins long before arrival.
They traveled without knowing every detail, trusting that God would guide them step by step.
Faith does not require full understanding; it requires direction and devotion.
As one year closes and another approaches, we stand at a crossroads much like the wise men.
The question is not whether God will lead—but whether we are willing to look up and follow.
God’s light still shines. His guidance is still present. But it must be sought.
This moment invites us to evaluate where our eyes have been fixed.
Have we been looking only at what is behind us—or are we watching for what God is about to do?
Those who look up are often the ones who move forward in faith.
Reflection:
Where have your eyes been fixed—and what might change if you intentionally looked to God for direction in the year ahead?
Closing Prayer:
Guiding God,
Lift our eyes above the noise and uncertainty of this world. Help us see Your light clearly and trust You enough to follow where You lead.
As this year draws to a close, loosen our grip on fear, regret, and distraction. Give us eyes that seek You, hearts that trust You, and lives that move in obedience.
Teach us to look up with expectation, believing that You are still at work and still calling Your people forward. Prepare us to step into what You have planned with faith and humility.
We lift our eyes to You.
We follow Your light.
We walk by faith.
In the name of Jesus, our King and Guide,
Amen.
