Follow Me
Day 2 — Follow Me
Scripture:
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” — Matthew 4:19
Reflection:
In Gospel of Matthew 4, Jesus walks by the Sea of Galilee. He sees fishermen working. He says two simple words: “Follow me.”
They leave their nets right away (Matthew 4:20).
Before Jesus sent them out to help others, He asked them to walk with Him.
Following comes before leading.
Jesus did not say, “Go change the world.”
He said, “Follow me.”
When we follow Jesus, He changes us. Then He uses us to help others.
Discipleship starts with being close to Jesus.
Observation:
• The fishermen left their nets. They gave up security.
• Jesus promised, “I will make you.” He does the shaping.
• Time with Jesus came before ministry for Jesus.
Life Application:
What is keeping you from fully following Jesus?
Is it comfort? Pride? Fear?
You cannot help others follow Jesus if you are not following Him yourself.
Prayer Prompt:
Jesus, teach me to follow You closely every day.
Action Step:
Spend 10 quiet minutes today reading Scripture and asking, “Lord, what are You teaching me?”
