Renewed Humility

Day 23 – Renewed Humility

Scripture Focus: Micah 6:8 (KJV)

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

How God Renews Our Humility

1. Humility Begins With God’s Definition, Not Ours

Micah reminds us that humility is not vague or optional—God has shown us what He requires. Humility is not thinking less of ourselves; it is thinking rightly about ourselves in relation to God.

In today’s culture, humility is often misunderstood as weakness or lack of confidence. Biblically, humility is strength that recognizes its source. Renewal begins when we stop centering life around self and re-center it around God’s authority and goodness.

“The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.” (Proverbs 15:33)

2. Humility Is Expressed Through Dependence, Not Image

Scripture pairs humility with walking—a daily, consistent posture. To walk humbly with God means acknowledging our need for Him in ordinary decisions, not just spiritual moments.

Modern life pressures us to manage appearances, competence, and control. God renews humility by inviting us to depend on Him rather than perform for others. Dependence keeps the heart teachable.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

3. Pride Resists Grace, but Humility Receives It

The Bible repeatedly teaches that grace flows toward humility. Pride closes the heart; humility opens it. Renewal requires honest self-awareness—recognizing both our limits and God’s sufficiency.

In a world that rewards self-promotion, humility feels countercultural. Yet humility positions us to receive wisdom, correction, and grace that pride repels.

“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” (James 4:6)

4. Humility Draws Us Closer to God and Others

Humility deepens relationship. When we walk humbly with God, we also walk gently with people. Humility allows us to listen, learn, and love without defensiveness.

Renewed humility strengthens unity and trust. It replaces competition with compassion and control with cooperation.

“Be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:5)
