THE LIGHT THAT LEADS US FORWARD

THE CHRISTMAS REVELATION

An Invitation to Share the Light

A December 20 – January 1 Devotional Journey

Based on my book The Twenty-Five Days of Christmas

JANUARY 1

THE LIGHT THAT LEADS US FORWARD

Scripture Reading:

Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)

1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Devotional:

The New Year does not begin in darkness—it begins in light.

The same light that broke into the world at Christmas now calls us forward with purpose and hope.

“Arise, shine.” These are not merely poetic words; they are a calling.

We do not rise because life is easy, but because Christ is present.  We do not shine with our own strength, but with the reflected glory of the Lord.

God’s light is not meant to remain hidden—it is meant to guide us, shape us, and flow through us into a world still longing for hope.

This is the continuation of the Christmas revelation. What was received must now be lived. What was celebrated must now be carried. The light that interrupted the night now leads the way forward.

A new year brings new opportunities to walk in obedience, to love more deeply, to trust more fully, and to reflect Christ more clearly. We do not know everything the year will hold—but we know the One who holds it.

So we step forward—not fearfully, but faithfully. Not alone, but led. Not uncertain, but illuminated by the presence of God.

Christmas has not ended. It has commissioned us.

Reflection:

How will you carry the light of Christ into this new year—in your words, actions, and daily choices?

Closing Prayer:

Light of the world,

Thank You for leading us into this new year with Your presence and promise. Thank You that Your glory goes before us and Your grace walks with us.

Help us rise with courage and shine with humility. Let our lives reflect Your truth, Your love, and Your hope in every place we go. Guide our decisions, strengthen our faith, and shape our hearts to honor You.

As we begin this year, we commit ourselves anew—not to resolutions, but to relationship. Not to fear, but to faith. Not to striving alone, but to walking with You.

We step forward in Your light.

We live for Your glory.

We trust You with what lies ahead.

In the powerful name of Jesus,

Amen.
