Wait While God Works

Day 21 – Wait While God Works

Scripture:

”‘Stay here for the night,’ Boaz said, ‘and in the morning, if he wants to do his duty as your guardian-redeemer, good; let him redeem you. But if he is not willing, as surely as the Lord lives I will do it. Lie here until morning.’”

— Ruth 3:13 (NIV)

Reflection

This verse holds a tension many believers know well: the promise is real, but the outcome is not yet resolved.

Boaz is willing.

The blessing has been spoken.

But the process must be honored.

There is another redeemer closer in line, and Boaz refuses to bypass God’s order—even though it would be easier and faster. Integrity does not rush redemption.

Notice Boaz’s words: “As surely as the Lord lives.” This is an oath rooted in God’s faithfulness, not human emotion. Ruth is invited to rest, not strive, while matters are handled she cannot control.

In the Book of Ruth, waiting is never wasted when it is anchored in trust.

Observation

  • God often works behind the scenes while we are waiting

  • Waiting does not mean inactivity—it means trust

  • Integrity honors God’s process even when outcomes are delayed

  • Peace comes from knowing God is at work, not from certainty

Ruth does not argue.

She does not panic.

She lies down and rests.

Life Application

Waiting is one of the hardest acts of faith.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I anxious because I don’t trust God’s process?

  • Am I trying to fix what God has already promised to handle?

  • Can I rest, knowing God is working even when I cannot see it?

God often calls us to be still not because nothing is happening—but because He is.

Scripture Connections

  • Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”

  • Lamentations 3:26 — “It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

  • Isaiah 30:15 — “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”

Prayer Prompt

Lord, help me wait without fear.

Give me peace when outcomes are still unfolding.

Teach me to trust Your work even when I cannot see it yet.

Action Step

Identify one situation you are actively worrying about. Consciously choose to rest today—pray once, then release it, resisting the urge to revisit it in anxiety.
