Renewed Courage
Day 37 – Renewed Courage
Scripture: Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
How God Renews Our Courage
1. Courage Is Rooted in God’s Presence, Not Circumstance
Fear is often a response to what we see; courage is a response to who God is. Joshua was called to lead into unknown territory. God’s promise was not the absence of challenge, but the certainty of His presence.
Today, courage is renewed when we act in faith even when the path ahead seems uncertain.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1)
2. Courage Requires Choice, Not Feeling
Courage is not the absence of fear—it is choosing obedience despite fear. Renewal transforms fear into faith by redirecting attention from danger to God’s promises.
Modern culture often equates courage with risk-taking; biblical courage is rooted in trust.
“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all ye that hope in the Lord.” (Psalm 31:24)
3. Courage Is Strengthened Through Past Faithfulness
Remembering God’s past deliverances fuels present courage. Reflection on His faithfulness in previous trials equips the heart to step forward when fear whispers doubt.
“Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, my feet from falling.” (Psalm 116:8)
4. Courage Inspires Others and Fulfills God’s Purposes
God renews courage not only for personal growth but also for the impact it has on others. Bold faith encourages and leads, opening doors for God’s work that fear would close.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
