WAIT
Daily Journey 13
WAIT
When “How Long?” Becomes Your Prayer
Theme: Waiting does not mean God has forgotten you. Faith learns to trust His steadfast love before the answer arrives.
Pause
Four times David asks:
“How long?”
Maybe you understand that prayer.
How long until the answer?
How long until healing?
How long until something changes?
How long until this season ends?
You don’t have to hide your impatience from God.
Bring it to Him.
Prayer
Father, waiting is difficult. When answers are delayed, keep my heart from believing I have been forgotten. Help me trust Your steadfast love while I wait and worship You before I see the outcome. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture
Today’s Psalm invites us to bring our impatience honestly before God and discover that trust can grow even before circumstances change.
Psalm 13
How Long, O Lord?
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.
5 But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.
Read It Again
Watch David’s movement:
How long?
Then:
Consider and answer me.
Finally:
But I have trusted in your steadfast love.
The circumstances haven’t necessarily changed.
David’s focus has.
Pursuing His Heart
Today’s Revelation of God’s Heart
God’s heart remains steadfast during our waiting, even when His timing feels painfully slow.
Carry this truth with you throughout today’s journey.
Psalm 13 is short, but it contains an entire spiritual journey.
David moves from complaint…
to prayer…
to trust…
to worship.
He does not pretend waiting is easy.
He tells God exactly how he feels.
But he refuses to allow his feelings to become the final word.
“But I have trusted in your steadfast love.”
That little word but changes everything.
I don’t understand…
but I trust.
I don’t see the answer…
but I trust.
I don’t know how this ends…
but I trust.
Faith isn’t certainty about timing.
Faith is confidence in God’s character.
Seeing Jesus
Jesus understands waiting.
God’s redemptive plan unfolded across generations before Christ came.
And Jesus Himself trusted the Father’s timing throughout His earthly ministry.
Through His resurrection, we know that even when God appears silent, the story is not finished.
Saturday’s silence did not cancel Sunday’s resurrection.
Truths to Hold Onto
God welcomes honest questions.
Waiting is not evidence of abandonment.
Feelings are real but do not have to become our final authority.
God’s steadfast love remains constant.
Worship can begin before the answer arrives.

Until tomorrow…keep walking with Him.
