DAY 3 — “I NEVER KNEW YOU.”

Scripture

Matthew 7:21–23
Titus 1:16
2 Timothy 3:5

Reflection

Few passages in Scripture are more sobering than this:

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven…” (Matthew 7:21)

These are not people rejecting God.
These are people claiming Him.

They speak His name.
They perform works in His name.
They believe they belong to Him.

And yet Jesus responds:

“I never knew you; depart from Me…”

This reveals something that cannot be ignored:

Religious activity is not the same as a relationship.

These individuals had:

• confession without submission

• works without obedience

• belief without surrender

Paul describes this clearly:

“They profess to know God, but they deny Him by their works.” (Titus 1:16)

And again:

“Having a form of godliness, but denying its power.” (2 Timothy 3:5)

This is the danger of performance-based faith.

It is possible to:

• attend church

• serve consistently

• speak the right language

…and still remain unchanged at the heart.

Jesus is not looking for:

• outward display

• impressive actions

• religious reputation

He is looking for those who do the will of the Father.

That means:

• obedience over appearance

• surrender over status

• transformation over activity

The most terrifying deception is not rejecting God—it is believing you belong to Him while resisting His authority in your life.

Challenge

Is my faith defined by what I do outwardly—or by a genuine, obedient relationship with Christ?

Prayer

Jesus, search my heart. Remove any false confidence rooted in activity or appearance. I don’t want to simply claim Your name—I want to truly know You and follow You. Teach me to walk in obedience and truth.
