The Frustration of What Cannot Be Fixed

Day 7: The Frustration of What Cannot Be Fixed

Scripture:
“What is crooked cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted.” — Ecclesiastes 1:15 (NIV)

Reflection:
Some things don’t change—no matter how hard you try.

Situations remain unresolved.
People don’t respond the way you hoped.
Outcomes fall short of what you envisioned.

And the deeper frustration?

You can see what’s wrong… but you can’t fix it.

Ecclesiastes puts words to that tension:
“What is crooked cannot be straightened.”

This isn’t about passivity—it’s about limitation.

There are things in life that exist beyond your ability to control, correct, or complete.

But we struggle to accept that.

So we keep trying.
Keep pushing.
Keep carrying responsibility that was never ours.

And slowly, frustration turns into fatigue.

Because you are trying to straighten what only God can restore.

Not everything broken is yours to fix.

Some things are meant to drive you—not into control—but into dependence.

Because the moment you accept your limits is the moment you begin to rely on His power.

Observation:
Some things are beyond human ability to fix.
Frustration often reveals misplaced responsibility.
Limitations are meant to lead us to dependence on God.

Life Application:
What are you trying to fix that may be outside of your control?

Scripture Connections:
Isaiah 55:8–9 – “My thoughts are not your thoughts…”
2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you…”
Psalm 127:1 – “Unless the Lord builds the house…”

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, help me release what I cannot fix. Teach me to trust You with what is beyond me.

Action Step:
Make a list of what is in your control and what is not. Intentionally release the second list to God.
