Renewed Wisdom
Day 20 – Renewed Wisdom
Scripture Focus: James 1:5 (KJV)
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
How God Renews Our Wisdom
1. Wisdom Is a Gift God Desires to Give
Scripture makes it clear that wisdom is not reserved for the elite, the educated, or the spiritually mature—it is available to anyone who asks. God does not withhold wisdom to test us; He gives it generously to guide us.
In today’s world, wisdom is often confused with information or intelligence. Yet information without discernment can still lead to poor decisions. God renews wisdom by reminding us that true insight flows from relationship, not intellect.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Proverbs 9:10)
2. Pride Prevents the Reception of Wisdom
James ties wisdom to humility. God gives wisdom freely, but it must be received with openness. Pride resists correction, while humility welcomes instruction.
Modern culture celebrates certainty and confidence, even when misdirected. Renewal occurs when we slow down enough to admit our need for God’s guidance and submit our thoughts to Him.
“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” (James 4:6)
3. Wisdom Requires Asking Before Acting
Many mistakes are not caused by rebellion, but by impulse. God renews wisdom by teaching us to pause before responding, deciding, or reacting.
In a fast-paced world that rewards immediacy, wisdom often feels countercultural. Yet Scripture reminds us that patience and prayer protect us from regret.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:6)
4. Wisdom Is Confirmed Through Obedience
Wisdom grows as it is practiced. God often clarifies understanding after obedience begins. When we act on God’s guidance, discernment sharpens.
Renewed wisdom leads not just to better decisions, but to lives aligned with God’s will.
“If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine.” (John 7:17)
