Renewed Identity

Day 33 – Renewed Identity

Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

How God Renews Our Identity

1. Identity Is Established in Christ, Not Performance

Scripture declares that identity begins in Christ, not in achievement, failure, or comparison. Renewal reminds us that who we are is not defined by what we do, but by who we belong to.

In a culture that measures worth by success and visibility, renewed identity frees us from striving to prove value.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.” (John 1:12)

2. The Old Identity No Longer Has Authority

Paul states that old things are passed away. While old patterns may attempt to resurface, they no longer have the right to define or control us.

Renewal does not mean instant perfection—it means a new foundation from which transformation occurs.

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him.” (Romans 6:6)

3. God Is Continually Making All Things New

Identity renewal is both immediate and ongoing. God declares us new, then continues shaping us into that reality.

Today, many struggle with shame tied to past mistakes. Renewed identity anchors us in God’s present work, not past failures.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it.” (Philippians 1:6)

4. Renewed Identity Shapes How We Live

When identity is renewed, behavior follows. We no longer act to earn acceptance—we live from it.

This shifts obedience from obligation to response and transforms daily choices.

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)

How We Walk in Renewed Identity

  • Reject labels that contradict God’s Word

  • Live from acceptance, not for it

  • Align daily choices with who God says you are

  • Allow God to redefine your self-understanding
